About Leander, TX

Established in 1882, Leander used to be a small railway town. However, it’s now the 4th fastest growing city in Texas. It’s also the 37th fastest growing city in the US. Over the years, the substantial increase in Leander’s population can be attributed to three critical factors: employment, land, and transportation.

In the past decade or so, Texas has attracted a lot of businesses and people from across the country. As the capital has grown, so has the Greater Austin metropolitan area. New developments first appeared in Cedar Park, and then they grew on to Leander, which is situated around 25 miles from the center of Downtown Austin. Since Leander has plenty of undeveloped land, what was once a sleepy small village has now become a residential Mecca.

The city houses master-planned communities, offering a variety of amenities, which most small neighborhoods are unable to provide. Many of Austin’s top medical facilities and technology firms have relocated to the North of the city, making this area highly appealing to homebuyers to get the most for their hard-earned money.

Leander offers residents activities and events all year-round. This includes outdoor facilities at Devine Lake Regional Park, which is a 25-acre lake for wildlife observation, fishing, and paddling. You will also find 46 acres of green space and several picnic areas. The Sarita Valley Greenbelt is a multi-use trail system that allows residents to get some exercise outside the gym. In addition, Bledsoe Park offers a range of sports courts on its playground, along with barbecue grills and a pool.

Residents of the city enjoy exceptional dining and shopping opportunities in the nearby Cedar Park and Round Rock.  Lakeline Mall, which houses more than 150 retailers, restaurants, and a cinema, is about 10 miles away from most homes. A 430,000-foot shopping mall located in Round Rock is another great shopping option and is only situated around 14 miles from Caballo Ranch.

Leander ISD is one of the fastest-growing school districts in Texas and ranks among the best in the area with 40 campuses spread across the district. Many schools are just a few blocks away from master-planned communities. Some of the best schools in town include the Leander Jim Plain Elementary School, Block House Whitestone Elementary School, Know Wiley and Leander Middle School, as well as Rouse and Leander Middle School, among several others.

Private schools include Harbor Christian School, which is located around 5 miles north of Leander, and the Founders Classical Academy, a tuition-free charter school, just about 2 miles north of the city’s Downtown.

Homebuyers will find several favorite national builders, like Highland Homes, Taylor Morrison, Pulte Homes, Meritage, Toll Brothers, and Scott Felder, developing homes for sale in the area. Moreover, there are also a number of local custom builders in the city building homes in Tuscan, Craftsman, or French-inspired architecture, which feature outdoor living areas, pools, and not to mention, the panoramic views the Texas Hill County offers.
